A ribbon with a length of p cm is cut into three parts. The length of the first part and the second part are x cm and 2x cm respectively.

(a) Write an expression for the length of the third part.

(b) If x = 10 and the length of the second part is four times the length of the third part, calculate the value of p.​

try this. the error is that sariah was combining a constant (4.5) with a variable with a coefficient, thus getting an inaccurate answer.

this is also assuming that you meant to put an equal sign before the 4.5 + x 35 x

to solve this problem, the strategy used is just to solve it yourself and find the correct answer by combining like terms.
