Greek geometer who has theorem named after him

The guy you're probably thinking of is Pythagoras, whose theorem about right triangles is one of the most important in all of geometry. It states that, given a right triangle with legs a and b and hypotenuse c, the three sides are related to each other by the equation

a² + b² = c².
