British taxed the Colonies mostly on everyday items, and the taxes were sometimes given as a punishment.

The British taxed many things on the colonies.

First, the Proclamation of 1763 had happened were The west of the Applications was for Native Americans and the east was for settlers. Next came the Stamp Act. Colonies had to buy a stamp for every piece of paper the bought. After that came the Quartering Act were colonial assemblies had to provide British troops with homes, food, and supplies. Then, there was the Townshend Acts. This act placed tax on imported goods from Britain like glass, paint, paper, and tea. Next came the Tea Act were colonies were taxed on tea from the British Parliament. The last act was the Intolerable Acts. This act closed the Boston Harbor, Massachusetts was under firm control bt the British, and British soldiers were sent to the colonies to enforce laws.
