Why does King feel that African Americans will share in the American ideals Jefferson stated in the Declaration of Independence?

Dr. Martin Luther King believed that African Americans would share in the American ideals stated in the declaration because he believed that all men were equal.

According to the declaration, all men were equal and had been bestowed with some inalienable rights by God.

Some of these rights were the right to freedom, the right to speech, the right to own properties.

Martin believed that all men regardless of their skin color, ethnicity or religion deserved the same equal treatment. Therefore on the basis of equality, King felt that blacks should also share in the ideal.

Following the arrest of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. in 1963. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote a letter in Birmingham jail titled "The Negor Is Your Brother"expressed why King feel that African Americans will share in the American ideals Jefferson stated in the Declaration of Independence. The letter which stated amongst other things declared that

"I have no fear about the outcome of our struggle in Birmingham, even if our motives are presently misunderstood. We will reach the goal of freedom in Birmingham and all over the nation because the goal of America is freedom.
