So what you do when you do your research is that you need to see that the myth is 1. scientifically sound 2. your sources are legitimate (forums/wikipedia may not be your best choice) 3. scientific proofs have been given. 

Maybe you can delete everything you have had for catfishing for example convos, phone numbers, pics, etc. and possibly get a new email for new accounts just so you can start fresh as yourself not someone else
