2.Look in detail at this extract from lines 10 - 20 of the source: How does the writer use language here to describe the Grandmother?
You could include the writer’s choice of:

•words and phrases

•language features and techniques

•sentence forms.

EXAMPLE:

The writer describes the Grandmother as someone who is ageing and beginning to get older. This is evident in “dresses in the nicest clothes… see what new patterns the grey makes” The use of the superlative adjective “nicest”, shows how Serenity thinks very highly of her grandmother and thinks of her as the best person in her life, since her mother has died. It could also imply to the reader how despite that her grandmother is ageing, she is still just as fashionable, which contrasts to a typical depiction of an older person, who are usually seen to be uninteresting. Furthermore, the phrase “see what new patterns the grey makes” shows that Serenity doesn’t see her grandmother as any different and in interested in spending time with her, the word “new” could suggest how Serenity’s grandmother is getting older by each day. This shows to the reader how Serenity and her grandmother are very close, and Serenity sees her grandmother as the motherly figure in her life, after her mother has died.
