What does the following metaphor mean? what is it comparing? "it is one of those invaluable seeds, from which… one can grow something that represents other people’s experiences."

The excerpt is from Virginia Woolf's "A Sketch of the Past." She describes how passionate she was about fishing, until her father said he did not enjoy it as much. Slowly, her interest diminished. However, she refers to the early experience of passion in sport as the seed that allows her to understand others who remain passionate about their activities.

The metaphor compares a thought or an experience with a seed, because it can implant itself in the brain, (just like a seed in the soil) and from it, new experiences and thoughts can arise (in the way that plants are born out of the seeds).

sorry i was debating over answering this question or not, but i do believe it is a sin to be gay. in the beginning, god created man and he created women to be a for man. there are many "political" views on this topic but i believe the bible is right. in the kjv bible, leviticus 18: 22, god talks about how it it is an abomination for women to be with women and man to be with man. god knows that everybody is a sinner, and he gives everyone a chance to repent. i'm not forcing god's word on anybody, but i do believe it is a sin. no matter the sin, as long as you repent, god is willing to forgive, you just have to accept him as your lord and savior.
