Consider an evaporation-crystallization process. 100 kg/h of a 40 wt% nacl solution is joined by
a recycle stream and the combined stream is fed to an evaporator. the resulting concentrated
solution is fed to a crystallizer which produces a filter cake consisting of solid nacl crystals and
solution in a ratio 3 kg solution/1 kg of crystals. the remaining solution is recycled to join the
fresh feed. if 60% of the water in the fresh feed is evaporated in the evaporator, find:
a.
the production rate of crystals
b.
the composition of the recycle stream
