Parent material can be considered as any form of starting material that breaks over the period of time through weathering, erosion, sliding or other processes to give rise to the formation of soil.

It is important to understand some properties of soil like density and porosity. In simple words, if soil particles are finely crushed and have large number of empty air  spaces between them, it means the soil is more porous. However, if particles of soil are roughly crushed, very close to each other it means that soil is dense.

Now, which soil will accumulate faster -porous or dense:

Porous soil is finely crushed and is having enough amount of air spaces in between the soil particles, so it is more easy to compress this soil and accumulate. On the other hand, if soil is more dense, it will be resistant to compression and difficult to accumulate due to less air spaces and more particles of large size.

So, porous soil accumulates better if taken as a parent.
