Explanation:

this is an exercise to help practice stem-changing verbs (e-i) so for the first question for example, pedir is the verb, and because it is a stem-changing, it becomes pid__ and the ending will depend on what noun is used (ie. yo-o, tú-es, Ud./el/ella-e...) Because the way the conversation is going, the person speaking is saying, "what do YOU ask for in the library," the word would be pides. (you translates to tú.)

anyway i hope this helps

also remember that if the noun used is nosotros/as or vosotros/as the e does not change, so again using the pedir example, if the noun were either of those, it would remain ped__ and nosotros/as would be pedimos and voso would be pedís.
