How do you conjugate in the preterit?

You drop the infinitive endings (-ar, -ir, and -er) ex. comER and hablAR and change them using the preterite endings
AR endings - é, aste, o, amos, asteis, aron
ER and IR endings - í, íste, ó or ío, imos, isteis, ieron

Translated~ maria: no andrea, i'm not bad. i'm not sad either.andrea: what? maria: i'm fine but i'm very hot.(rephrase the sentence)  you: i'm excited (or excited)andrea: excited (or excited). what? i do not understand.tener = to have    estar= to be
