Classical and operant conditioning are forms of  associational learning. 
Associational learning is a theory according which ideas can be linked to one another and there is a mental connection between concepts, events,objects.
In classical conditioning associate two stimuli are associated , while in operant conditioning a response and a consequence are associated.
