Theseus, a greek mythology character, was considered a hero in the eyes of the Athenians . He is best known for slaying the Minotaur, half man and half bull greek mythological creature who lived in the labyrinth created by the mythological man who was considered to be a skillful artist named Daedalus.

When Theseus entered Athens, he didn’t disclose his identity at first. Though Medea, Aegeus new wife had a child for him already and she had the gift of prophecy. She saw a very big threat in Theseus and decided to frame him up. Medea told Aegeus that Theseus was plotting to attach him, so aegeus asked Theseus to embark on a journey to marathon to fight the Cretan Bull.

Theseus fought the Cretan bull and was victorious. The Cretan bull was sacrificed to Apollo delphinius and after he conquered the Cretan bull, he returned back to anthens.

When Theseus came back to anthens, Medea makes an attempt again to hurt him by asking aegeus to poison him but from the point Aegeus saw Theseus sandals and sword, he identifed theseus to be his son and quickly smashed the cup away from Theseus hand. From the point, Aegeus and Theseus reunite as father and son and Medea and her son were banished to Asia.

Theseus became the king of Athens and the founding Hero’s. The Athenians loved Theseus so much that he occupies a very unique place in their hearts.
