If the scientist is withholding information it can be a big obstacle from helping fix the issue that they are trying to figure out and also doesnt help get ideas + help from other scientists to speed up the "investigation".

It is meant that like tapestry scientific theories often need to pull out since they are not relevant and often times the whole chain of theories may be pulled out.
