Howard is a 43 year old junior accountant at an accounting firm in Philadelphia. Howard is not a "happy camper" at work. His last two performance reviews have been unsatisfactory. He gives everyone at work an argument, even his supervisor. He is verbally abusive to the secretaries in the office. He calls out sick at least three times a month and he is often late to work. His work is sloppy and often inaccurate (not a good thing if you are an accountant.) If he receives one more unsatisfactory performance review he will be fired. The Employee Assistance Program at his firm has referred Howard to you for counseling. How would you help Howard using the cognitive psychology approach?
