The Glorious Revolution of 1688 is not only a historical landmark for England but also for the rest of Europe as it set ,for the first time in history, a constitutional monarchy.  As the common people rose in revolt against James II when he came into power with the idea of reinstalling the Catholic Church as the main religion for the country.
