HELP PLEASE I NEED HELP 20 POINT ALOS BRAINLIST WHO EVER FIRS Double Digging Your Garden for Increased Yields
Is your garden soil as hard as concrete? Over the years, garden soil becomes compacted. When this happens, plants will not grow well. A good way to renew that tired soil is by double digging it.

Double digging does not mean digging the bed twice. When you double dig, you refresh the layer of topsoil and loosen the layer of subsoil. Double digging puts air into the soil and raises the garden bed by several inches. It also provides an opportunity to work nutrient-rich organic matter into your garden.

Double digging your garden bed takes more time than other methods, but the benefits last for years. You'll be rewarded by greater yields and healthier plants.

Before you double dig, plan ahead. A few days in advance, water the bed thoroughly. The next day, remove all plants and weeds from the area. Now you're ready to begin double digging. Starting with a small section of the garden, dig a hole that measures about two square feet and about one foot deep. Remove the soil and place it in a wheelbarrow.

With a garden fork, loosen the soil at the bottom of the section you just dug. Work in a little compost or shredded leaves. Organic matter breaks down more slowly in this layer than in the top layer of soil, so don't add much compost here.

Now dig a second hole next to the first. When you double dig, you shift the soil from one hole into the other. Shovel the topsoil from this second hole into the first hole, piling it on top of the compost. When you finish, use your garden fork to loosen the soil at the bottom of the second hole. Add compost or leaves.

Dig another small area and repeat the process until you've covered your entire garden. After you have dug the last small hole, fill it in with the topsoil in the wheelbarrow. When you've finished double digging the entire garden bed, spread a layer of compost or shredded leaves over the top of the garden. Work the compost into the soil.
