 1) Countries which retain the death penalty for ordinary crimes such as murder but can be considered abolitionist in practice in that they have not executed anyone during the past 10 years and are believed to have a policy or established practice of not carrying out executions.

             2) Those in support of capital punishment believe it deters crimes and, more often than not believe that certain crimes eliminate one's right to life. Those who oppose capital punishment believe, first and foremost, that any person, including the government, has no right to take a life for any reason
