From these demographic studies many statistical conclusions can be drawn as given below:

1. Population of the country in any particular year.

Demographic Cycle:

From census studies it is found out that about 80% of the world’s population is living in the developing countries and the remaining 20% of the world’s population is living in developed countries. According to history of population the population growth takes place according to a cycle known as demographic cycle. This cycle is divided into following stages:

(a) High Stationary Stage:

It is the first stage during which the population remains stationary because there is a high birth rate as well as high death rate which cancel each other hence the population remains stationary.

(b) Early Expanding Stage:

It is the second stage during which the death rate begins to fall but the birth rate remains unchanged so there is increase in the population. Most of the developing countries like India fall in this stage.

(c) Late Expanding Stage:

It is the third stage during which the birth rate decreases but still the population continues to increase because the birth rate is still higher than the death rate.

(d) Low Stationary Stage:

It is the fourth stage during which the population remains almost stationary because there is low birth rate as well as low death rate. Developed countries like America fall in this stage.

(e) Declining Stage:

It is the fifth stage during which the population begins to decrease because the birth rate is lower than the death rate.

the concept of marginal cost is simple, it means the cost of producing one more item. for example, in the case of pies, the marginal cost is the cost of producing one more pie than those that have already been produced.

it is important to understand that productive activity influences marginal cost. the marginal cost of some goods can be very high, while others may be insignificant. for example, the marginal cost of producing an extra plane is very high. already the marginal cost of a water company to provide 1l more water is derisory.

in the case of pies, the cost involves the inputs, the labor and the fixed cost, which involves the fixed space of the bakery. the level of production initially has the marginal cost decreasing because there is space and manpower available. however, to produce more you have to hire more workers and buy more inputs. if physical space is limited, workers will conflict with places, inputs and their productivity will decrease, meaning there is an optimum point of production for each level of space and manpower. from this point on, the productivity of the workers will be getting smaller because of lack of space, so that the marginal cost of producing one more pie will be increasing. so, although you have not posted the chart, but if you have the answer, you can see that my explanation goes according to the marginal cost curve that will increase from the 4th pie, answer (c).
