Their main problem at present is the privatization of education under Pinochet that has essentially continued since — the rich elites receive a fine education in private schools, but the majority of Chilean children are provided shockingly poor educational resources for a country as modern as Chile. Their Milton Friedman-run experiment in free-market laissez-faire trickle down has made their stocks rise and their rich richer, but the average Chilean is no better off than when Kissinger killed Allende and turned the reins over to General Pinochet. To enter the modern industrialized world, they need a tide that raises all boats, not just the yachts of the wealthy.
