North Vietnam was supported by the Soviet Union, China,[17] and other communist allies; South Vietnam was supported by the United States, South Korea, the Philippines, Australia, Thailand, and other anti-communist allies.[60][61] The war, considered a Cold War-era proxy war by some,[62] lasted 19 years, with direct U.S. involvement ending in 1973, and included the Laotian Civil War and the Cambodian Civil War, which ended with all three countries becoming communist in 1975.

the Vietnam war was fought between South Vietnam and it's allies, the USA and most of Europe against North Vietnam with allies like China and although they didn't fight the USSR(the soviet union), this was a huge war in all those countries histories but the USA signed the Paris Peace Accords, ending direct U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. The North Vietnamese accept a cease fire which is not a loss but alot of people see it as a huge loss to America which was and still is huge super power
