multiple answer chocies

1.) Corinth, located in the northeast corner of the Greek mainland on the Isthmus of Corinth, was one of the largest cities in ancient Greece, and a rival of Athens. Corinth was a naval power as well as an important commercial center in ancient Greece. It was the first to create coins and a system of money. As Corinth conquered smaller city-states, it spread its use of coins, which continued to strengthen its position as a powerful city-state.

A great deal of Corinth’s wealth came from land trade. While many of the other city-states depended on the sea for trade, Corinth was able to trade with its neighbors on land. They were well-known for their bronze and clay artwork. By 750 B. C., Corinth was the wealthiest of the Greek city-states.

How did conflict with other city-states impact Corinth’s economy?
a: Conflict caused a decrease in technology.
b: As Corinth conquered other city-states, they were able to spread their culture and religion.
c: Conquering city-states allowed Corinth to spread their system of currency (money) which strengthened the city’s economy.
d: Corinth’s artwork often reflected important battle scenes.

There he defeated a huge Persian army at Gaugamela (“go-ga-mill-a”).
