Lesser molecules are packed, the more liquid something is. The more the molecules are dense and packed, the solid it gets.

Ex: When water molecules bind together when in low temperatures, they form an ice cube. When that same ice cube is in higher temperatures, the water molecules loosen up and start flowing which melts the ice and makes it water.
