It was hard for many of those who experienced the event to move on from it, some who took part in the genocide faced jail terms, while some who survived it lived with the pains of loosing their loved ones.

On the other hand, it had it's effect on the economy, it was a setback for the nation and till date the country is yet to recover fully from it although there has been some development in Kagali, the city's capital.

It has been difficult for Rwandans to recover from the genocide because of the brutality of the violence and how difficult it is to forgive neighbors who acted against the Tutsi minority.
