The American system plan had three roles. Protect American industry, Manage the economy and Improve transportation. The American system helped to make the United States one of the wealthiest countries in the world. The Protect American industry had a tax called high tariff. High tariffs made European Goods more expensive and encouraged people to buy cheaper American made goods.

In 1860 the U.S. opened up a new national bank to manage the economy.The U.S. improved transportation funding across the country for building Several major roads canals, because of the high demands of goods produced in factories  for the people who wanted to buy them.The high Tariff was criticized by farmers and plantation owners because it made it more expensive for them to sell Goods overseas.
