PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. You will be completing a science project on matter/density that will count as a classwork grade. You MUST CHOOSE
ONE of the following options:
Choice 1: Density Project.
Create a Density Column similar to the one we viewed in the video in class. It does NOT HAVE TO BE 7 LAYERS (3 or 4
layers is fine and you must include water as one of the layers). You can make a video of the experiment, explaining
what each layer is and the density of each liquid as you do it. You may need the help of a family member and that is
fine. You can also take pictures of it. A brief explanation of your experiment needs to be be submitted as a google doc.
You can attach the video or photos along with the google doc when you submit it. You must submit the video/photos
to me (upload it into your google drive) and then we may present it in class. Remember: Water has a density of 1
g/cm3. Anything greater than 1 will sink and anything less than it will float above the water. Please make sure you
have your parents permission and use only safe, household items. If you are not sure what substances are okay, please
email me. I attached the video link below).
Choice 2: States of Matter Slide Show (Choose this option if you are unable to get the materials needed for choice one)
Create a google slide show on the 4 states of matter. Your slide show must be a MINIMUM OF 7 SLIDES. Your slide
show MUST include the following information:
1. The 4 states of matter, a definition of each state, examples of each state.
2. Pictures or diagrams explaining each state.
3. Explain what Physical Properties of Matter are, with examples.
4. Explain what Chemical Properties of Matter are, with examples.
5. A separate slide with links to the places you got your information.
Your slide show must be submitted to me and we may present them in class. Email me with any questions.
