This is the page James Madison, a member of The Constitutional Convention, developed a constitution for his home state of Virginia before joining The Constitutional Convention. The constitution he created in Virginia was the foundation for the new constitution. Madison was the Chief Recorder of Information for the convention. His important contribution to this convention earned him the nickname of “Father of the Constitution”. Madison also developed and created the first amendments to The Constitution. The amendments are additions to the constitution. The amendments were meant to guarantee the personal rights of citizens, such as free speech, religion, and free press.
