There will be two types of reactions, the scientist that agree and support the new theory and the scientist that resist the change.

When a theory can not solve the problems that should be solved by it, a group of scientists proposes another one that can adjust better to reality. When this happens, there is always a division in the scientific community. On one side, there will be scientists that do not agree and defend the current theory, and on the other side,  the scientists that accept the new theory. Over time, the new theory will receive the acceptance of all the scientific community, and it will become the new central theory.
