Name two actions taken by the continental Congress that uses the authority given to it by the Articles of confederation

On July 8, 1775, they attempted again for harmony by sending the Olive Branch Petition to the King of Britain.  

They made an arrangement to meet again in May of 1775 if the British didn't fulfill their needs.  

On June 14, 1777, they passed the Flag Resolution for an authority United States Flag.

The Continental Congress worked with the states to get the Articles of Confederation ratified. It also passed the Northwest Ordinances of 1785 and 1787.
