Explanation:

The Larsen Ice shelf is an extended ice shelf found in the north west part of the Weddell sea. And it is elongated from cape longing to Smith peninsula. The Larsen Ice was first discovered by the Norwegian whaling vessel and was named after the Norwegian captain Carl A. Larsen. The Norwegian crew sailed along the Ice front in 1893.

Larsen Ice shelf contains series of shelves and they are segmented as Larsen A, Larsen B and Larsen C.  The ice shelf originally covered a larger area approximately but due to conditions like climate change the area it covered has been narrowed .

Larsen B Ice Shelf

Explanation:

The Larsen B Ice shelf was accidentally discovered in the North-Western part of the Wendell sea by Norwegian whaling vessels. The ice shelf was however named after Norwegian captain Carl A. Larsen. The shelf has other parts such as Larsen A and Larsen C.

The ice shelf however shattered into small icebergs after about 10,000 years of its existence due to global warming associated with climate change.
