This book was written by Rachel Carson. It was published in 1962. The book is a documentation of the negative chemical effects caused by pesticides.

It caused the United States' national pesticide policy to be reversed, caused a nationwide ban on the use of the chemical compound DDT for agriculture, it was also an inspiration to the environmental movement that brought about the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
