One of the features of Freud's personality theory that I consider most valuable is that of understanding the mind as having more than one single aspect. In Freud's theory, these parts of the mind are the id, the ego and the superego. The fact that the mind is divided in such sections allows us to better understand the complexity of it.

Another important part of Freud's theory of personality is that of the id itself. The id is the unconscious part of our mind. This is an important concept to appreciate, as the existence of an unconscious allows us to understand that we are not always in control of every aspect of our mind.

The Freudian theory I would "least want to lose" in such developments is INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS.

Freud believed that our dreams represented a disguised accomplishment of a repressed wish.

Furthermore, the easiest road to understanding of the unconscious activities of the mind, Freud believed that it was through the studying and analysis of dreams.

Dreams do not only reveal underlying motives, hopes, aspirations and desires, but they also reveal our unconscious fears, disbelief and anxieties.

In psychology, psychologists utilize this theory to read a person’s dreams and reveal truths that the person wouldn’t consciously think of.

Through dreams, the psychologist can tell the thoughts that the person might be afraid to reveal.
