After birth between 6 and 9 months babies start babbling and imitating. By 12 months or 1 year a baby's first words usually come out and by 18 months to 24 months children use approximately 45 to 50 words and will start saying short sentences. After that in 2 to 3 years these sentences are long consisting of 4 to 5 words.

By 1 year, a baby's first words usually come out and 1 year 6 months they start to speak 50 words around. Next to that in 2 years they make short sentences by placing two words in it.
