You are a university student, but you also wait tables at a restaurant. One evening, one of yourprofessors happens to come in for a meal (seemingly on a date!). Use role theory to describe the interaction (and possible role conflict) that ensues. This situation "screams" awkward, at least it does for me. As a server myself, sometimesI’ll see the occasional teacher which is sort of weird enough. In the role of student, the professoris sort of held to a high(ish) standard, and as students we seem to forget that these professors alsoplay the role of adult, that they too have social lives. In this sense I believe that the role of "professor" is a Master Role, since as previously stated it sort of trumps all the other rolls that are given to that adult (at least in the eyes of his / her students). In my own personal cases, outside of the classroom environment, teachers assume the role of "adult" and they strip you of the role of "student." I say this because it usually isn’t ever awkward for the teacher if they happen to run into one of their own students.
