Explanation:

            An air bag is installed in the front part of the driver seat in all the vehicles and in some vehicle they are present at the front passenger seat also. It is a restraint system which is designed to inflate extremely quick at collisions.

            It helps to protect the person driving the vehicle from fatal injury. It provides a  restrain and a soft cushioning  during a collision. The use of airbag in the cars started in the mid 1970s in the United States but that was not mandatory. But the government made airbags for the driver side mandatory for the all the new vehicles from the year 1994.
