Due to the open land lottery system, the demand for more lands grew and farmers decided to settle in the west of the river.  

After the revolution that sprang up between British and Georgia, the lands were given as grants to the soldiers who fought against the British. Under the Yazoo act, lands were sold to farmers this caused a shift in population.
