I think the essential thing is that in that time if individuals considered cultural sharing by any stretch of the imagination, they likely didn't consider much it. I assume the customary way of thinking at the time, among the two Europeans and Indians was that alternate folks were savages and we shouldn't need anything to do with them. So there was a ton of contention and slaughter for a couple of hundreds of years. The relative peace between Rhode Island and neighboring Indian clans would appear to be a contention that cultural sharing is something to be thankful for.
