Most people in Southeast Asia live near the river deltas and on volcanic islands because the soil is rich in nutrients and the rivers flood often. This allows people to farm mostly rice, called paddies. Flooded land from the river deltas create great rice growing conditions, which is a food and economic staple for the people in this geographical region.

There are several religions amongst the small countries that make up Southeast Asia. There is usually a mix of all three of these religions, as well as Hinduism.
