The answer is B. France and England. A brief synopsis if the battle of Hastings, it was fought between the English and the Normans (the Normans ruled over a part of France known as Normandy). The Normans went to war with the English because of their leader William the Conqueror (spoiler alert) claimed that he should rule England because Harold Godwinson had (supposedly) sworn to him over holy relics that he could be the next King of England when Edward the Confessor (the king at the time) died. Harold denied making the oath, Harold's claim to the throne was that he was the Kings best friend and the only relation that Edward had was a distant nephew who was still a child. The war of 1066 was really long and I cold write alot about it but for now I'm just going to skip ahead to the Battle of Hastings. The Normans had wanted to go to war however they could not get their ships across the English channel because the wind was blowing the wrong way. When the wind did blow the right way they landed unapposed on the southern shore of England Harold Godwinson had his entire army to the north of England fighting off a Viking invasion. After the English repeled the Viking invasion they marched south and got there in only a few days (which was incredibly fast considering the circumstances). The English army got to Hastings battle-worn and tired, the Normans had one other big advantage over England which was their Cavalry. In the battle the formed a shield wall which depite their efforts the could not break. The Normans then staged a fake retreat running away from the English. The English broke ranks to chase down the Normans. The Norman cavalry then turned around and slaugtered the English. The English said that Harold Godwinson had died after taking an arrow to the head while leading a charge against the Normans, The Normans said he died after being hacked to pieces by thier cavalry who had caught him running away like a coward, either way he was dead. Wiliam the Conqueror was crowned the King of England mixing the cultures of England and France. History was forever chaged.
