Smallpox is defined as a disease that has affected people for a long time. It is characterized by being contagious, being able to disfigure and can be in many cases mortal. Smallpox was eradicated from the world in 1980 through what was a vaccination campaign.

Smallpox is a disease that has no cure and currently, there is no treatment, but a preventive vaccine. One of the negative aspects that can be highlighted of the vaccine to prevent smallpox is that the side effects it has can be very high, which does not justify its application. People who are at low risk of contracting the virus should not receive the vaccine as this could bring counterproductive results.

The most common symptoms that smallpox manifests are fever, headache, severe tiredness, the possibility of vomiting, and general malaise. It is common that in a few days after the person has the smallpox virus, he can see red and flat spots that may appear in places such as the arms and face.

Smallpox is caused by the virus that bears the same name. The various ways in which a person can get smallpox are if someone with the virus transmits it, touching items that are contaminated with the virus and also through a terrorist attack, where the latter use it as a weapon.

A person who has the smallpox virus will not die in most cases, but if it acquires a strange form of the virus its life may be at risk. Those who have suffered the virus, after recovery, it is normal to see them with scars left by the virus in the body.
