Was the nullification crisis about tariffs?

It was centered around taxes (tariffs) that were created to protect US goods. They protected products from the North. It was hurting the South so Vice President John C. Calhoun write the South Carolina Exposition. 
This document declared that all tariffs should be considered  This document that declared unconstitutional. This caused the Nullification Crisis and brought the North and South into conflict.
