Objects with masses of 87 kg and 772 kg are separated by 0.45 m. a 63.9 kg mass is placed midway between them. 0.45 m b b 87 kg 63.9 kg 772 kg find the magnitude of the net gravitational force exerted by the two larger masses on the 63.9 kg mass. the value of the universal gravitational constant is 6.672 × 10−11 n · m2 /kg2 . answer in units of n. 005 (part 2 of 2) 10.0 points leaving the distance between the 87 kg and the 772 kg masses fixed, at what distance from the 772 kg mass (other than infinitely remote ones) does the 63.9 kg mass experience a net force of zero? answer in units of m.

Steam is generated in a boiler of a cogeneration plant at 10 mpa and 450°c at a steady rate of 5 kg/s. in normal operation, steam expands in a turbine to a pressure of 0.5 mpa and is then routed to the process heater, where it supplies the process heat. steam leaves the process heater as a saturated liquid and is pumped to the boiler pressure. in this mode, no steam passes through a condenser, which operates at 20 kpa. (a) determine the power produced in the turbine and the rate at which process heat is supplied in this mode. (b) determine the power produced in the turbine and the rate of process heat supplied if only 60 percent of the steam is routed to the process heater and the remainder is expanded to the condenser pressure. Light from the sun reaches the earth in 8.3 minutes. the velocity is 3.00 x 10^8 m/s. how far is earth from the sun? i know how to get to d = (3 x 10^8 m/s)(498 sec). i just don't know how to get from there to the answer being 1.5 x 10^11 m.

You are driving directly behind a pickup truck, going at the same speed as the truck. a crate falls from the bed of the truck to the road. (a) will your car hit the crate before the crate hits the road if you neither brake nor swerve? (b) during the fall, is the horizontal speed of the crate more than, less than, or the same as that of the truck?

Global warming will produce rising sea levels partly due to melting ice caps but also due to the expansion of water as average ocean temperatures rise. to get some idea of the size of this effect, calculate the change in length (in m) of a column of water 1.45 km high for a temperature increase of 1.12°c. assume the column is not free to expand sideways. as a model of the ocean, that is a reasonable approximation, as only parts of the ocean very close to
