Activity: A liquid of unknown specific heat at a temperature of 20°C was mixed with water at 80°C in a well-insulated container. The final temperature was measured to be 50°C, and the combined mass of the two liquids was measured to be 240g. In a second experiment with both liquids at the same initial temperatures, 20 g less of the liquid of unknown specific hea was poured into the same amount of water as before. This time the equilibrium temperatur was found to be 52°C. Determine the specific heat of the liquid. The specific heat of water 4187 J/Kg°C or 1 kcal/kg°C.

Asteam power plant operates on an ideal reheat rankine cycle between the pressure limits of 15 mpa and 10 kpa. the mass flow rate of steam through the cycle is 12 kg/s. steam enters both stages of the turbine at 500°c. if the moisture content of the steam at the exit of the low-pressure turbine is not to exceed 10 percent, determine (a) the pressure at which reheating takes place, (b) the total rate of heat input in the boiler, and (c) the thermal efficiency of the cycle. also, show the cycle on a t-s diagram with respect to the saturation lines.
