A conductive wire is made up of two segments, one straight and one circular. Each segment is uniformly charged with a charge of +Q as illustrated in the figure.
a) Calculate the electric field due to the straight segment at point P that lies at a distance R from the origin, the electric field due to the quarter circle at point P which is at a distance R from the origin and net electric field at point P.
b) If = 9 nC and = 10 cm. What should be the magnitude of a charge located at point P so that it perceives a force of 0.05 N?
c) Is the electric field at the origin stronger or weaker than at P? Why? Qualitatively justify.
d) Find out the limit set by the European Union as
reference for exposure to an electric field and determine which
should be the load value in each segment so that the field
electrical power at P due to both, reach this value. Take R as 1 m.
