An operator walks from his workstation to a set of shelves 5 steps (~15 feet) away. With his right hand, he easily picks up a small part weighing 2.5 pounds from among various other objects on a shelf, which is at ankle level. (Assume the operator is standing directly adjacent to the shelf and the length of reach is 22 inches). He returns to his workstation and places (with care) the part on the work surface, which is at waist height. Required:
a. Develop a general move MOST sequence model to describe this activity (referencing MOST tables). Calculate the estimated standard time in both TMUs and seconds for this activity. State any assumptions you make.
b. Describe the same activity using the MTM-I system by filling out the four blank rows. Calculate the estimated standard time in both TMUs and seconds for the activity. State any assumptions.
