A rocket is launched AGAINST gravity from rest with an acceleration of 4 bj m/s2 m/s2
. The engines
last for 10 seconds before they shut off. The rockets keeps flying upwards but it eventually stops due to
gravity. Answer the questions using gravity -9.8 bj m/s2
• Compute the velocity of the rocket RIGHT BEFORE the engines shut off.
• Compute the height the rockets reaches while the engines are still on.
• Compute the time the rocket takes to reach MAXIMUM HEIGHT.
• What is the maximum height the rocket reaches RESPECT to the ground?

What if? if the temperature near the cliff suddenly falls to 0°c, reducing the speed of sound to 331 m/s, what would the initial speed of the rock have to be (in m/s) for the soccer player to hear the sound of the splash 2.90 s after kicking the rock?

If the temperature were raised very high, classically what would we expect the heat capacity per object to be for this one-dimensional system? give a numerical value. chigh t = __ j/k/object (one reason for the discrepancy is that the high-temperature limit assumes that the number of oscillators is large (n > > 1), which is not the case in this tiny system.)
