A steam turbine governor regulates rotational speed using negative feedback to control the speed of a steam engine. Steam spins the governor and when it reaches a certain speed, the balls rise to turn off the steam valve. The valve reopens when the governor's rotational speed declines to a certain speed. Suppose a steam governor has two balls that are each rotating with a tangential speed of 3.5 m/s. The balls are 16 cm from the rotation axis, and the centripetal force on each ball is 712 N.
What is the mass of one of the balls in kg?
Answer is assumed to be in kg. Do not add units. Give your answer to 2 decimal places.
