George is planning an experiment to see how fast different sized cans of soup can roll down a ramp in his kitchen. He will be rolling them down a ramp and them time how fast it take them to travel 1 meter after the ramp. George writes the following procedure to conduct his experiment. Gather three different sized soup cans, a 30 cm ramp, a timer, a meterstick, and a scale.
Weigh the first can and record the size
Put the meterstick at the end of the ramp
Roll the soup can down the ramp, time how long it takes to move along the meterstick
Calculate the velocity
Repeat steps 2-5 for the other cans.
Which of the following should George add in order to improve his procedure?

a
Record the velocity of every can
b
Find different objects other than cans to work with
c
Change the Height of the ramp to make the cans go faster
d
Mention that he needs to clean up his materials

4r-134a enters the condenser of a residential heat pump at 800 kpa and 50°c at a rate of 0.022 kg/s and leaves at 750 kpa subcooled by 3°c. the refrigerant enters the compressor at 200 kpa superheated by 4°c determine (a) the isentropic efficiency of the compressor, (b) the rate of heat supplied to the heated room, and (c) the cop of the heat pump. also, determine (d) the cop and rate of heat supplied to the heated room if this heat pump operated on the ideal vapor-compression cycle between the pressure limits of 200 and 800 kpa. Air enters a gas turbine with two stages of compression and two stages of expansion at 100 kpa and 17°c. this system uses a regenerator as well as reheating and intercooling – the intercooler returns the air to the inlet temperature. the pressure ratio across each compressor is 4 ; 300 kj/kg of heat are added to the air in each combustion chamber; and the regenerator operates perfectly while increasing the temperature of the cold air by 20°c. determine the system’s thermal efficiency. assume isentropic operations for all compressor and the turbine stages and use constant specific heats at room temperature.
