Officials are looking into three different ski accidents. The accidents happened when three skiers (all with the same mass) were skiing across the flat, snowy ground. They were each bumped by another skier, but not all from the same direction. These skiers changed speed as a result of being bumped. Use the information in the diagram to answer. Which skier(s) experienced the strongest force when bumped? How do you know?

a
The skiers in the yellow and purple sweaters; both gained the same force as they sped up, but the skier in the red sweater lost force and slowed down.

b
The skier in the yellow sweater experienced the strongest force because he has the fastest ending speed.

c
All three skiers experienced the same strong force because they changed speed by the same amount.

d
The skier in the red sweater because it takes a stronger force to slow something down than to speed it up.

Gam radio signals can usually be heard behind a hill, but fm often cannot. that is, am signals bend more than fm. explain. (radio signals, as we shall see, are carried by electromagnetic waves whose wavelength for am is typically 200 to 600 m and for fm about 3 m.)

Ascientist is working with a new kind of quantum dot to make a dye. he is applying newton’s laws to the particle, but it seems to be breaking these laws of physics. which action will most likely the scientist study the particle’s motion? a. he needs to remember that the particle is too large for quantum analysis. b. he must continue to use newtonian mechanics, but he needs to learn more about the particle. c. he needs to use quantum mechanics, not newtonian mechanics, because this is a nanotechnology product. d. he must determine new physical laws that only apply to quantum dots.
