You manage to organize an event where all the faculty, staff, and students at PCC gather by the mirror pools to jump upwards, as high as they can, in unison, in order to push the Earth downward. Make an order-of-magnitude estimate of the speed they manage to impart to the Earth as a result of the synchronized jump. As always, clearly state the quantities you are estimating.

Acave rescue team lifts an injured spelunker directly upward and out of a sinkhole by means of a motor-driven cable. the lift is performed in three stages, each requiring a vertical distance of 10.0 m: (a) the initially stationary spelunker is accelerated to a speed of 4.90 m/s; (b) he is then lifted at the constant speed of 4.90 m/s; (c) finally he is decelerated to zero speed. how much work is done on the 68.0 kg rescue by the force lifting him during each stage?

James is trying to prove newton's 2nd law of motion. he tries to move four different objects with different masses, shapes, and sizes from point a to point b. the objects are a toy car, a car, a refrigerator, and a kitchen table. after some experimentation, he finds that force is dependent on the mass of the object, rather than it's size or shape. the object that takes the most force to move is the
